We recommend the following wiring method when using our standard waterproof transformers to eliminate the risk of galvanic corrosion between your boat’s hull and other boats or metal objects.
120V to 120V
120V to 230V
230V to 120V
230V to 230V
A link is used to bond the earth & neutral on the transformer output as this will allow the boat’s fuses & RCDs to operate correctly whilst isolating the boat AC system from the shore power earth.
Hull Isolation Waterproof Transformer
Our hull isolation waterproof transformers have an additional safety earth screen between the primary & secondary windings. This is connected to the shore power earth and will trip the shore power RCD or circuit breaker in the highly unlikely event of insulation breakdown in the transformer.

Ensure that all connections that are made to & from the transformer are made with a good quality mains cable with an adequate current rating.
Check that all cables entering via cable glands fit snuggly to ensure watertight seals
It is important that all connections to the terminal blocks are firm, however do not over tighten the screws
The secondary neutral to earth (ground) link must be in place to ensure that the boat’s RCD’s & fuses operate correctly
